* I am a new bandsaw owner * My bandsaw is not a "high-end" bandsaw; I would says it's mid-grade for the home hobbyist That being said, here is my experience with this 1/8" blade: This 1/8" blade will not stay on the wheel guides!! I have spent about 2 hours trying everything I can per the instructions that came with my bandsaw in order to properly adjust the bandsaw after installing this blade. No matter how much I adjust the settings, this blade continues to ride off the guide wheels. It may be that the blade is too small (only 1/8"), that my bandsaw is of average quality or that I am too inexperienced to make it stay on the guide wheels. Or, it may be a combination of the above. However, I have read on many message boards that 1/8" blades are inherently difficult to keep on the guide wheels. My suggestion would be to stick with 3/16" or 1/4" size...Read more This review is from: Bandsaw Blade 70-1/2" x 1/8" x 14T Regular (Misc.) I used a 1/4" blade for a year on my Rikon bandsaw. It was finally (past) time to change it, and I had a 1/8" on hand. I've now broken two of them. They're impossible to adjust reliably and they fly off the wheels. They track poorly in material. In 1 month of intermittent use I broke both of them, and will never use such a skinny blade on my saw again. It DOES cut, perhaps it works better with a different style of saw (hence the 2 stars instead of just 1). You just cant put very much pressure during cutting. It would be helpful if they were stronger steel. I found tighter tension does help. |
