Summary: Grizzly Boy have they changed i.e. Griz 19" X2 Bandsaw 2009-06-07
Comment: I drove up to Bellingham to pick my saw up... wow, 500lbs in a little truck. came home, scared to death tipping that unit out due to the weight and value but all went very well. Unpacked, set up and wow. Can't believe this is the same company... VERY HIGH QUALITY. every bolt, washer, lined up exactly as expected. very very nice. Even nicer than I thought I had purchased. Glad I didn't buy the JET or even the Laguna.

Best value for the money without a doubt.
SMART Grizzly to change with the times by improving value to such a high level.

Some comments were made about the crate... yes cheap and flimsy but with the Styrofoam inserts all is protected well AND with the Grizzly service if anything is damaged they will replace it.

I have previously owned a Griz table saw and jointer, I have since sold them as they were the OLD typical less quality, better valued import stuff. That was the OLD Grizzly. If you have not taken a look at the new equipment, you owe yourself a visit.

I'm a very happy customer and this saw now stands as my flagship piece of equipment. I'm looking to buy more from Griz now that they are no longer that cheap stuff.

Summary: Very nice Heavy bandsaw 2008-12-06
Comment: I will rate the mobile base then the saw.
I agree with other reviews about the mobile base. It is a wonderful mobile base and can provide great results if it was the right size! It is too small. Other reviews describe how only one bolt can go on one side and they are correct. I used to think that reviews like that were made up but in this case they are right on. I can't believe that this issue is not fixed by anyone. Grizzly or Amazon. The mobile base is too small and you can't open the bottom door of the saw either, maybe it is because of how I have it rotated on the base. It won't work anyway you rotate the saw. I tried everything. This is very difficult with a heavy piece of equipment. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THE MOBILE BASE THAT IS SUGGESTED.

The saw: This is a very nice saw. The table top is huge and beautiful. The table has a rack and pinnion adjustment! The 3hp motor is the real deal and provides plenty of power. I like just about everything about the saw- honestly. The saws 2 - 4 inch dust ports are great and work great with my 6inchx 4inch x 4inch connection. (peachtree woodworking)
My one real gripe about the saw is the power switch. I think it is so cheap, granted mine was damaged in shipping. The saw you get has a key to the switch. It looks like something on one of my son's toys. Extremely cheap looking. My switch plate was bent. I called the company and they would gladly send me another one. I was just calling to report it. I hammered the plate flat and you couldn't even tell it was once bent.(Note: the picture is wrong. It comes with a key and a bump stop button.) I rewired the saw to skip the key as it was defective. The wiring was simple as you just skip the key and either connect the wires or skip it, which is what I did. The saw is great! The mobile base is great, but the wrong size, and the new switch with the cheesy key it of such poor quality. I love the grizzly bear cut outs on the cast iron drive wheels.

Summary: Mobile Base Doesn't Fit Saw 2008-06-25
Comment: I just purchased this saw and can't provide any insight to the saw itself at this time, but the mobile base that Grizzly recommends doesn't fit. The footprint of the saw is 18" X 29 1/2" and the mobile base is documented to: "Adjusts from 19" x 20-1/2" minimum to 29-1/2" x 29-1/2" maximum". The cross support for the base is square tubing with threaded holes every couple inches to allow for adjustment. In order to extend the base to the required 29 1/2", only one bolt can be attached to the tubing (the base is designed to have two per side). With only a single bolt attached, the base sags and the leveling legs hit the floor. The end result is that the base isn't mobile.

I just got off the phone with customer support and Grizzly doesn't have a base that will fit the saw and parts from larger bases cannot be used to allow the base to extend to 29 1/2". I'm off to find some angle iron to try to get this to work.
