For superior versatility, the band saw's ample 10-inch resaw capacity makes it ideal for slicing veneers and cutting large stock and book-matched panels, while its full-sized (3/4 x 3/8-inch) miter slot accommodates most miter gauges and accurately guides shop-made jigs and fixtures.
European-Style Carbide Blade Guides for Precise Control
The band saw's sophisticated blade guides stabilize performance by controlling side-to-side blade play, providing micro-adjustable control and regulating thrust forces. The blade guides are forged from long-lasting carbide and, best of all, require no tools for adjustment.
The band saw features computer-balanced band wheels, which employ a flywheel effect to produce smooth cutting action without vibration, and a large (17 x 17-inch) tilting cast-iron table with knobs that lock securely at any angle. The versatile table tilts up to 45 degrees to the right and 10 degrees to the left. Plus, the heavy-duty guide post has both rack and pinion adjustment for additional blade support, and the base is pre-drilled with holes for securing your band saw firmly to the floor.
User-Friendly Features for Effortless Blade Adjustment
All the handwheels on the band saw are constructed from high-grade cast iron, meaning blade adjustments are smooth and easy. The handy trunnion scale lets you set specific table angles, while a direct-reading scale lets you select blade tension for widths up to 1-1/4 inch. And the blade-tracking adjustment window eliminates guesswork by providing a direct view to your blade positioning.
For added convenience, a foot brake is provided for making rapid stops, and the included four-inch dust port connects easily to a standard dust collector without requiring adapters, so you enjoy efficient dust cleanup while you work.
The JWBS-16B is backed by a five year warranty.
About JET: A History of Sharing New, Feature-Rich Products
Opened in 1958 after the founder of the company, Leslie P. Sussman, took the first Boeing Jet Airplane trip from Seattle, Washington to Japan, JET began as a small dealer that sold air hoists and trolleys out of a single hardware store in Seattle. Over the years, JET has carried everything from snowmobiles, transmitter radios, and forklifts to nylon stockings, but by the early 1970s, metalworking had become the base of their business line. And by the 1980s, JET had expanded into the realm of woodworking. Today, you'll find that JET offers a wide range of popular woodworking tools that are backed with best-in-class features and excellent service.
What's in the Box
Jet JWBS-16B 16-Inch 1-1/2 HP 1Ph 115/230-Volt Wood Band Saw
I bought a 16" JET and a 20" JET to replace a band saw that was about 20 years old. This older saw had to be replace because finding parts for it was becoming difficult and expensive.
It's been over one year and the JET band saws have been a poor replacement. The blade guides do not hold true and need constant adjustment and have even needed to be replaced. The rip fence for the JET in flimsy and has fallen apart.
The poor quality of these tools have caused many problems leading to lost work time and many frustrations. I will avoid purchasing tools from the WMH Tool group (JET, Wilton, Powermatic)in the future. Since they bought Powermatic the quality of the Powermatic line now is very different compared to my older Powermatic tools.
