This review is from: Quad Trimmer With Carbon Steel Blades (Tools & Home Improvement) Another poorly designed trimmer. It may work fine for thin plastic edgebanding but it doesn't work with wood veneer edgebanding. It doesn't cut the wood, it tears it. I ordered the carbide replacement blades at the same time thinking that when the carbon steel blades wore out I would replace them. When the steel blades failed to perform well, I switched to the carbide blades thinking that they would work better but I was wrong; they were actually worse! Save your money. By This review is from: Quad Trimmer With Carbon Steel Blades (Tools & Home Improvement) I bought this item directly from FastCap when I was using their PVC edge banding on some kitchen cabinets and it worked beautifully. You want to practice on a test piece first to determine the right amount of squeezing-pressure. If you squeeze too hard, you'll take off too much of the edge banding and scrape the piece you're covering. If you don't press hard enough, you won't get a clean, flush edge. After a few practice cuts, it worked perfectly on my cabinets and saved me a ton of time I would have otherwise spent with a utility knife or scissors and the edges wouldn't have been so clean. I haven't tried it on wood edge banding so I can't comment on that use. I absolutely think it was worth the money for the my PVC banding and would recommend it. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because I think it's a little pricey, but if you're doing a large number of edges, buy it - you won't regret it. |
