I did a lot of research and found this bandsaw to be the best value for my dollar. It is built well except for one of the motor wires being crimped and grounding out. The manufacturer was very helpful but I ultimately found the problem. It runs smooth and has lots of torque. I would recommend this over a JET especially when comparing price to model. I would buy another Shop Fox product. Amazon had the best price too.

I did a lot of research before settling on this unit and I am totally satisfied with my purchase. I do mostly metal work but have a fair amount of wood projects too, so this unit was ideal. The digital readout on the speed control allows me to come back to an exact speed setting for any material. The unit is made very sturdily and blade changes are quick and easy. Adjusting the lower blade guide is a bit cumbersome and I'd have preferred a unit with ball bearings in the side locations of the guides which is how most metal only units are made, but I just couldn't afford the cost of a dedicated metal cutting only machine. I've used both the fence and the miter gauge with good results. I've yet to try tilting the table but the controls for that seem simple enough. All in all I'd recommend this machine to anyone looking for a solid and dependable band saw that is equally at home in both cutting mediums.
